Hello again hope you are all well and enjoying these updates. So after all the excitement of christmas and wait for new year we have been busy, the most memorable of these between days was Sailor day. We made this a special tribute day by firstly going to the Maritime museum which dates from the late 1700's to present.
It was a sad and happy day at the same time as this love for ships is shared greatly with some absent friends who would have enjoyed it all greatly. The best parts were spent touring the tall ship named the endevour which is still a working ship today for the paying public to spend upto a week working on it. Also we toured the decomissioned Naval ship HMAS Vampire and a Submarine which the name of escapes us! Anyhow some low decks and narrow spaces so packed with equipment and and detail were fabulous!!
After this we went to meet up with an Old friend of David's, "Carl Knowles" known from playschool! He lives in Sydney now so was great to meet up again and catch up over a beer or 2, and get some local info.
In the evening we had a meal in the "Summit" restaurant which turns slowly giving a 360 view of the city, Harbour bridge, Opera house and more from the 47th floor! The view and restaurant were spectacular but let down by the rabbitt size food which was not brilliant. But at least we got a good view and its another on the list.
After the meal we went to the "Opera Bar" so named as it sits in circular quay next to the opera house, its open air and has a perfect view of the quay and bridge. We had a nice bottle of wine with a toast by candlelight, the candle will now be lit in every country we visit and arrive home for its final burn.
All the pics are in the sailors day album. x x
