Traveling Monkey's
We are now in Palenque, and it is a huge climate change from San Christobal De Las Casas, which was a mountain town about the height of Denver, CO. San Chris. was very chilly even during the day, but here it is like there is a sweaty guy following you around all day just breathing on you and putting off humidity. We are currently staying in a cabana that has a palm leaf roof and cement floors, it is basically like camping but with slightly less pest problems. However the down side is that it is open, and you can hear every sound out side, so if a lizard farts a mile away it sounds like thunder. Our hotel has a friendly pack of dogs that roam around, and like to sleep outside of our cabana. Palenque the actual park/ruins are very interesting, from walking around in the jungle and then there is a large empty field with an enormous temple on it, amazing! We hired a tour guide, which may have been an expensive choice, however worth it. Tomorrow morning we will be taking a van, bus and boat to Tikal, Guatemala, hopefully talking to the driver about how 6 minute abs are going to trump 7 minute abs. Oh and if any of you wanted to know, riding a horse for 4 hours really hurts the butt!
