Today was my travel day. So I slept in until 8:30am (for me on vacation this is sleeping in mind you!) and since I finished packing the night before I really didn't have to rush around. Ate my nice breakfast of eggs, ham, cheese and Valencia OJ. Then since I haven't really taken Sebastien out of the room I figured today we would go out. So I brought him out and we took some pictures. I got this nice German lady to take our picture together and she had a good laugh seeing Sebastien.
I took plenty of pictures of The City of Arts and Science. I'm thinking of making a book out of it, my own pictures that I can turn into a little coffee table book. The lines and design of the buildings just mesmerize me!
It was a quick plane ride back to Barcelona, only 30 minutes compared to teh 50 minutes heading to Valencia. I sat next to this guy with really long legs, poor thing was cramped up in the small plane. But he managed to get in a nice nap while I was too busy talking to the voices in my head. Don't get too worried though! I wasn't talking out loud. But that is one of the consequences of traveling alone, there is no one to talk too. It is also much worse when you go to a place where you don't really speak the language, then there really is no one to talk too. So far lonliness hasn't hit me as hard yet like it did during my first solo trip two years ago.
Speaking of remembering Paris...the place where I had dinner tonight is a brother branch of the original restaurant in Paris. The one in Barcelona is called Le Realis de Venise and it is just one block away from Paseig de Garcia. Le Relais restaurant is a set dish place, which means you only get to choose how you want your meat cooked and what kind of dessert. They serve salad as a first course and the main dish is steak and fries. I felt like that food critic guy in "Ratatouille" when he eats the dish and is transported back in time to his childhood. Well I wasn't transported back that far! Just to the time in Paris when I was sitting across the table from a friend. We picked off each other's plate and spent about 2 hours just talking. Good times and good memories came with my meal tonight. I guess this is my version of comforting travel food, eating a meal that reminds of you a place. Now I can add tonight to that memory too!
