I would argue that four shorter hops is much easier than two long hauls - at least in terms of the golden ratio of traveling pain to pleasure. I left Salt Lake at 6:00 am on Friday for logistic purposes and eight hours later I met up with Cretia at our gate in SeaTac. A short wait filled with strategic snack purchasing and we were on our way to Reykjavik. A shorter-than-I-was-expecting-flight got us in at about 11:00 pm Seattle time and we immediately boarded our flight to Frankfurt. Another three hours, a snack pizza, and an hour delay and we were on our way to Ljubljana. Caught a pricey cab to our hotel nicely situated in the central district of Ljubljana and got settled in. It was about 24 hours of traveling - but I think because of the several stops, walking around, snacking, etc. it didn't feel too bad. In fact after showers etc. Cretia and I rallied and explored the lively and gorgeous river walk, got some gelato, and sat outside to enjoy bruschetta, chips, and beer, all while being serenaded by the cheers from soccer fans at the open-air sports bar just down the way. In bed by 11 PM and waking up feeling ready to go! It all goes to show kids, prior planning and preparation prevents piss poor performance. Also, luck. A big part of successful traveling is luck.
