The picture for this blog is of Pula - not Split or Plitvice - the hotel internet is not letting me upload photos - so stay tuned for those.
Yesterday we had a fun morning exploring Plitvice National Park with its beautiful travertine waterfalls. Though so did every other tourist in Croatia - so there were lots of people enjoying the nature along side us :). Lunch of National Park hot dog from a grumpy park employee and then we were off to Split. The old town of Split is pretty cool - housing Diocletian's retirement palace and a medieval town built alongside and in some cases on top of. We were told that the beautiful people of Croatia all come from these parts and while they are beautiful - they are not too smart. We haven't encountered anything that would reinforce either of those stereotypes.
We explored the city today, climbed up the church tower of the church built in Diocletian's mausoleum, almost died cause it was really high and scary, and explored his palace. Had to buy some cheap sunglasses because the reflection off the white paving stones and white Roman walls was blinding! Listened to music, ate, napped, picked up some trinkets, and had an all around great day!
Looking forward to tomorrow - when we check out some islands - Hvar and Korcula.
