With bags on our backs bigger than Santa's sack we fondly said our goodbyes to South East Asia because the Travelbugs were heading to CHINA!! First stop the place with multiple personalities and 14million elbows Hong Kong. We boarded the bus and headed in the direction of Kowloon (our new home for the next few days). It was Trishs second time to Hong Kong so the jaw dropping was left to Cat. Hong Kong has such a energetic feel. A Chinese city with multi-Asian and Western elements - lights, camera, action!
Day two found us on the ferry over to Hong Kong Island. Our mission to reach Victoria Peak! (o.k.ok. I know its no Everest more of a hill than anything) All aboard and off we went on the tram. The city views from the Peak were amazing. Some quick "We were here photos" and we decided to feed our monster asian appetites in Hard Rock Cafe.
If there is one thing you must do in Hong Kong it is bag shop! (Shame on any of you that have been to Hong Kong and did not purchase a 'back of the truck' Prada bag!) Wandering through the markets you are sure to hear "Bags, watches,- Prada, Rolex ..." Temptation got the better of us and we were like sheep to the slaughter. We were taken off the street into this abondoned building, where with a secret knock we entered a room, given photographs and magazine cutouts of the most beatiful bags and watches. Its times like this travelling with another girl can be a curse because there is no such thing as "Drop that bag, you dont need it, what do you want another bag for, havent you got plenty already.....". So in the end Prada escorted Trish home and Miu Miu joined Cat. BUT they are soooooooooooo lovely! It was a sin to leave them there!
Next thing on our Hong Kong list of things to do was meet our new tour guide and group. Our tour guide ended up getting stranded at the Hong Kong China border so we were greating by the sub,Garry. Nice guy but could of done with a few voice projection tips from Mary I. Our group consisted of Australians, English, New Zealand, Scandanavian, Swedish and SEVEN Irish! Little did we know great adventures were about to begin.
To end our stay in Hong Kong a trip to see the Skyscaper lightshow and a few drinks in Lan Kwai Fong were needed. All I can say was it gave us a taste for more "Hong Kong delights" so with a promise to return we said goodbye the following day and it was off to Yangshou.
