We went to the Maldives islands,which are located in the Indian ocean SouthEast of India There are almost 1,200 islands in the Maldives. On 100 of the islands are hotels and resorts,but tourists are not allowed to go to the other islands where the Maldivians live. The people here are muslin and the president does not want them to learn about American ways. The Maldives is the lowest country in the world and is only 5 feet above sea level. The people there are worried about climate change. If the polar ice cap melts the melted ice will go into the oceans and make the oceans fuller. If that happens,the countries that are the lowest can get covered up in sea water. The president wants lots of tourists to come to the Maldives so they will spend money and the Maldivians will save it to buy land in other countries where their people can live if their country is under water.
