Hello from Bulgaria,
I have been on the road for just over two months and am currently in Sofia. This is my first blog as I didn't start a blog when I first left(which I'm totally regretting). I didn't really think about Internet blogging before but have decided to start as I want to remember my trip as best as possible! We had our first day in Sofia today after getting in late last night however we did not go out and slept in as we are very tired from all the traveling we have been doing the last few days. I skyped family for a bit and then spent the arvo doing some planning for upcoming travel through turkey, greece and western europe. To make up for our lazy day we went out for dinner this evening and it was wonderful! We went to a traditional Bulgarian restaurant and shared pork pieces from the spit and roasted potatoes. We had a cheese fritter as a starter and a yummy chocolate and vanilla sponge cake for dessert. They also gave us complimentary dessert after this - a bite size hardened jam/jelly thing with muesli around it and honey. It was so yummy and is a traditional Bulgarian dessert.Josh had local beer for a drink and I ordered a Lemonade which was no sprite and was yellow so then ordered a Pepsi which was much better :)To top it all off the restaurant had live musicians playing Bulgarian music and singing. They were all excellent! I gave them a small tip after they played in front of our table. All up the night cost us 15euro and left us feeling full but not full enough to stop us from getting chocolate sundaes from maccas which happens to be right in front of our hostel! We have been feeling deprived of western comforts so this hit the spot a treat :)We are now back at the hostel which we are only paying 6euro a night for and just chilling before bed.
That's all for now...Travelbug23
