On the train today - heading south to Toronto& really liking this means of transport.
Early start and aside from idiot taxi drivers, the rail process & journey was brilliant. Orderly ex Montreal, clean train and comfortable 5 hrs in the seat.
Passed some great scenery of farms and countryside. Skirting the inland ocean of Lake Ontario, water as far as you can see to the horizon.
Made several scheduled stop along the way and enjoyed it - so much better than driving at times.
Toronto downtown in a blue day, fabulous start. Did the usual bag drop and as we hadn't eaten this morning and it was now 1:30ish went walking to find lunch. Good Friday and a lot of places closed. McDonalds chosen as the crap of choice, this will be my last load of this rubbish. It's not all that fast, has no taste and you know you shouldn't be touching it the moment you order it!
EB had charge of the map and we found the St. Lawrence Market that we will check out tomorrow.
Wandered thru downtown to whatever thought was waterfront but in reality there is very little space not built out with high rise accomodation. We took a quick return to the hotel for EB to change shoes and grab the camera.
Out the door and across the park we are off to CN Tower that dominates the skyline. The sun and the clear day is brilliant as we find our way. At the ticket counter at 3pm and we learn of a 30 minute downstairs and a further 1.5hrs up top to connect to the sky pod. 2hrs waiting before we even start mmmmm.
With promise of same weather tomorrow we take decision to return.
We are right next to Rogers Centre and a great park on site of the old rail round house. Excellent pics of the tower from here. Spent some time soaking up sun while the girls took a trip on the mini train around the park.
We wandered back thru downtown and made our way back to hotel. All a bit tired after early start and good walk in the sun. Relaxed for a bit before heading out for a quick dinner.
Hope the weather holds for tomorrow.
