Today we left Franz Joseph early morning and made our way to Lake Wanaka. We stopped at Lake Matheson which is next door to Fox Glacier town and went on an hour walk around the lake. It was really pretty as the lake had a really good reflection of all the mountains. It was a really attractive place. Then we stopped at a beach and saw some dolphins swimming just off the coast. We then had a lunch stop and carried on off the coast and in through the mountains. On the way from Haast to Wanaka we stopped for some photo opportunities. We saw a really pretty waterfall joining a river. The river was so blue, truly stunning. Then we stopped on the road a few time to photograph the snow capped mountains and Lake Hawea. The scenery today has been stunning. It really shows how attractive nature is. When we got to Lake Wanaka we checked in and then Mel went off rock climbing with some of the others. I had a wonder round the lake and then went and met them. It's such a pretty little town. Completely ski/snowboard orientated. The lake is stunning though and the snowy mountain make an amazing backdrop. We then just had a little walk through the main street - it reminded us of Christmas with the cold weather, fires and lights. We cooked a veg curry with a couple of the girls and then had a few drinks for one of the boys birthdays.
