The cowboys of Cody were calling us! We have a couple hours drive in a baking hot van (we refuse to use A/C as we are scrimpy) and we stumble upon Buffalo Bill central- ranches, rodeo, chaps, snake skin cowboy boots, taxidermy, suede fringe waist coats and REAL COWBOYS!! What a yehaa'ing culture change right there. The small town is pretty busy with mostly American tourists -and us!!, saloon bars (with the swinging doors!!), tourist shops, leather and taxidermy retailers and plenty of galleries.
So, Rodeo booked at the Self titled 'Cody rodeo capital of the world' that slogan was tickets sold instantly and we were going that following evening- cowboy hat definitely needed! What an experience it was too. Leading up to their independence day it landed that we had tickets to a national competing night rodeo, including horse and bull rodeo and a bit of lasso, the riders are competing for $40,000!!! So their giving it the big bananas! Every one of them being flung around like rag dolls these animals are crackers, it looked pretty brutal at stages but hats off to them they certainly have some skill. Great to see, great evening, interesting and bonkers.
Cody definitely a winner, look forward to more honkytonk business along the northern way, eyes are peeled for some line dancing (Pauls request).
