The Whistler Olympic village, this place was purely for Pauls enjoyment but it was such a great place to visit..or live! As Paul has already questioned :) Secretly bricking it about having to whack my full face helmet on and go full steam ahead down a great big mountain we got to the Whistler village and straight away loved it. The village extended for the 2010 Olympic games has everything you could possibly want, restaurants, parks, shops, the MASSIVE MOUNTAINS, everything, all surrounded with tonnes of lodges this place looks like something the Sylvanians Families or the burrowers might live in, it was lovely.
So...today was the day..we took on the downhill biking! The bike hiring shop gearing me right up, Paul whacking my helmet on Cool Running's stylee we get ourselves on the bike lift to the top. Reluctantly doing this I cant come to Whistler and not give it a go and after the first three runs down the hill with me and Paul shouting at each other because I'm rubbish I get a grip and start doing alright. On my last run just 'cos I can I decide to launch myself across the handlebars and go for a downhill skid supposed to ride, covered in dust Paul lifts me out the way and I have a shaky rest of the trail ride back to return my bike, leaving Paul to do his thing, hurrah for Paul! and me...I feel like ive been beaten up! Not only that but we bumped into our first sight of a black bear, three of them in fact, luckily we were on bikes.
Paul gets on the black (No Joke, Angry Pirate, Samurai Pizza Cat, A-line Tech Section, Crank It Up, Heart of Darkness, Una Moss- to mention a few for Rob!!) trails from further up the mountain and comes out without a scratch, looking like a really excited ten year old, he's loving it!
Best day in Canada by miles, Pauls ticked a massive box, we've both had a great day, I'm so glad I gave it a go.
