Both being really sad to leave Whistler we had nothing but a pleasant surprise when we arrived in the Jasper to Banff National Park. Plenty to see and there's wildlife popping out everywhere. Jasper town itself a very pretty place however, it wasn't quite as good as Whistler for us...yet! We shall see what tomorrow brings.
Going out for six hours- again getting lost! we hiked it around Jaspers' Valley of The Five Lakes what other to say than it is ABSOLUTELY STUNNING!!! The jade and blue colour to the lakes was so vibrant, everything just so striking. De-touring off track in the wrong direction- by two hours! We get back to Marv with very sore feet, burnt nose and shoulders and decide to head further through the park for a drive along the Rocky Mountains.
The long drive was really unique, we loved it, blasted on the music and enjoyed the sights, we stop in to see a few glaciers and lakes along the way, again there's just so much to stop in and see, sometimes wish we had a little bit more time. Anyhow, something we have realised is if you see any more than two cars pulled up along the road side- stop immediately! It is our general rule- sometimes people are just having their lunch; in which you move along feeling slightly nosey but there's a chance there might be a bear to see and in one case, there was, three of them!! Three black bears (one mum and two cubs) moseying their way along the mountain roadside putting on a show for by the end of the road side gathering about fourty cars. Our first opportunity to get some photos of bears, we were on it!
First impressions of Banff are nothing but good, it has loads of shops, restaurants, bars, things to do everywhere - this place is buzzing! Great in the summer so I can only imagine how good it would be in the winter ski season. We had no worries at all parking our Marv up for the night, feeling safe as houses, Banff is awesome. Paul getting out on the bike trails for a few hours I get me time- yay! Originally thinking taking the third party (the bike) on our trip was the most ridiculous thing ever I have come round to realise it's a god send. Living in the confined space of Marv has been surprisingly easy but I think the small amount of time to ourselves really helps us not to strangle each other which is always an advantage.
