Trailor on Tour
Hi again from Auckland,
Not much to report as I've been trying to do admin type stuff the last few days - like changing my flights and doing research on where and what to do next.
Auckland is a really nice city, but it's extremely hilly as it is covered in volcanic hills (don't worry, they are extinct mum). The city has attracted a lot of Asian immigrants, giving the city a very cosmopolitan feel - it also means that there are lots of great, cheap restaurants.
Now for some interesting (and I'm sure some dull) facts about NZ -
It was the 1st country to give women the vote.
It has more golf courses per capita than any other country.
Auckland has the largest no. of boats per capita of any city.
It is the birthplace of the 'pavlova' dessert.
The sheep population is 47,390,000, equalling 12.6 per person.
And finally, a New Zealander invented velcro, the pop lid on a paint tin, the child-proof pill bottle and the crinkle in hair pins to stop them falling out!
Wow, I hear you cry.
As if that wasn't enough excitement, I'll now let you in on how to speak Kiwi.
Peck - to fill a suitcase
Sex - one less than sivven
Min - male of the species
Iggs ecktly - precisely
Duffy cult - not easy, got the hang of it yet?
Anyway, enough nonsense - can you tell that I haven't actually done too much yet!!
However, I have been to the cinema 3 times - buy 2 get 1 free!! I have seen 'Million Dollar Baby' - very good, 'Sideways' - good, but not as good and 'The House of Flying Daggers' - excellent cinematography, special effects, etc, but a bit of a naff ending! Barry Norman eat your heart out.
Tomorrow a friend from England arrives, so I'll let you know what the plan is then. Bye for now Sherry xx
