We arrived in Queenstown after a long four hour bus trek from Lake Tekapo and were so pleased to arrive in a town surrounded by beautiful views, even though it was cloudy, it was beautiful. We immediately felt at home as the hussle and bussle was reminiscent of any busy UK town, but it was different, not only were the views stunning, but there seemed to be a real buzz to the place, a bit like the buzz in London.
However, for Ronnie and I that buzz soon vanished once we got out the map to find our next hostel. If we've learned anything about one another its that we both read a map in a totally different way. We can go round in circles or backwards and forwards before we either agree on a route or one of us concedes to the other, this is a tried and tested method we have tended to use and, for us, it somehow works, even if we do end up annoyed with one another, it gets us to our destination.
Part of the appeal of Queenstown was to do a bungy jump, after all, it is the home of bungy. This was something we had, rather hesitantly, been planning from the UK, even going as far as taking out insurance for it. However, everyone we spoke to said that there is now something much better than bungy jumping, that lasts three hours, not just ten seconds. Canyoning, its the new 'must do' thing in Queenstown.
Neither of us knew what canyoning was, but before we had time to think we'd gone ahead and booked it for the following day. So the rest of our time here was spent exploring the town, with the obligatory shopping, of course and we even went on a boat trip to find out a little more about the place.
