Dinner at Dyers is an experience;an artful one. Everyone should try it....but budget for it. It was a complete evening and I headed home 3 hours later.
Sunday was my day to slow down and take pictures- to get a feel for this ancient city. I went to the fish market and the Cathedral of the Blood. I listened to street musicians in the Burg. I walked the canals and watched tour boats. I took pictures of amazing art all over the city. I nibbled on chocolate and enjoyed the sun. About 3 pm, I said goodbye and walked toward the train.... and right into the largest yard sale I have ever seen. Crystal, large beautiful wooden ables and everything in between. It took me an hour to walk that mile- and I didn't even buy anything. I really wish I had more time, more money, and a bigger suitcase!
Brugge is irresistable. I loved Antwerp too. But this is in a whole different class. I am so lucky to have enjoyed her. I am leaving happy but already nastalgic. Endings are like that. This one, maybe more so because it is my last excursion on this trip. Back in the Netherlands I will finish packing up, have dinner with my friends Luuk and Angela, and leave in the early morning hours of Tuesday, By Tuesday afternoon, I will be in Pennsylvania- seeing how I fit back into my life there. I am not sure I can. -At least not in the same way. The perspective has changed.
