Well I made it to Madrid. I have limited access but typed out an entry in my email. Once I access a computer, I will update.
...
I intended on getting up at 7 this morning but I could not sleep past 6.
I went to the lobby to ask about the subway system becAuse I couldn't figure it out from the map he gave me last night. Once he gave me that information, I was on track with how to get from place to place.
I gathered my things and got ready to go. I stopped at the lobby, had a coffee and a croissant and then I was off.
The station was easy to find. I bought a 2 day travellers pass for just over 8 Euros. That allows me to get on and off the metro anytime over the next two days. Normally, it´s 1 euro per ticket.
The metro stations were clean, bright and spacious. Unlike Paris' stations. What a difference!
I arrived at the Plaza del Sol. It's basically the center of the city. I was there before 9 so I was able to get some pictures with less people.
I am impressed with how well Spanisards take care of their businesses. As I walked around this morning, I watched people cleaning windows, mopping floors, sweeping and scrubbing sidewalks. Madrid is overall very clean.
I just wandered around today. I strolled through a few parks, one was massive! I took pictures and tried my best to speak Spanish to the few I came in contact with.
I decided to take a siesta today. Heck, I am in Spain.
I got up from my siesta and felt nauseous. I washed my face and sluggishly made my way outside. It was so bright. My eyes had to adjust to the light. I must have still been asleep. It took me about 15 minutes of walking before I felt normal. Maybe I had a touch of sun stroke? Maybe it was just exhaustion. Regardless, I recovered.
I ate dinner and just relaxed the rest of the evening. Fun, fun, fun!
