I had a good nights rest. We were up and out of the door by 6:45. We had a coffee and snack on the ferry. The subway ride was quick and easy to the airport. It's interesting to know how this city does not really cater to tourists. Signs are all in Portuguese and I can see it being very difficult for someone who only speaks English. Terminal two did not have our airline so we assumed it had to be terminal one. Peter checked with an attendant and he said it was 'most likely' in terminal one, which I found odd. He wasn't certain. The experience in Lisbon terminal one was the most unorganized and inefficient airport processes I have ever experienced. Now it could have been the fact that the attendant at Transavia had no idea what she was doing. There were two lines. We waited over an hour to get checked in. It took her over 5 minutes or longer for each passenger. The one attendant was frustrated and should not have been interacting with passengers. She had to check with the other attendants and make several phone calls with each person she tried to check in. She was rolling her eyes, sighing often, grumpy faced and not very pleasant to the people. It truly was a sight to see. We ended up being one of the the last people to get checked in (the other people behind us we're going into the other line). Finally, boarding pass in hand we proceeded to security. It was much quicker than the initial line. The security agent was pleasant. Luckily the flight was delayed an hour or we certainly would have missed our flight. I don't think I will ever fly with Transavia again. In my mind, the process needed to be more streamlined.
Thankfully we are on the flight now, in our seats and ready to conquer Amsterdam.
The check in to the hotel went smoothly. We are staying by the airport so it's a little bit of a hike into the city by train. We waited for the train but it was difficult to figure out as it was all in Dutch. Again, it's not catering to tourists. We finally figured it out and got into the city center. We walked around, took pictures and ate some street food (fries). We have a plan tomorrow to do the free tour. Another full day of walking around. I wonder how many kilometers we can walk?
