I thankfully caught up on some much needed sleep. I was lucky to have a comfy bed. It made a big difference.
I had to do some administrative stuff, copy photos onto my thumb drive, book a train ticket for England, some banking, etc. One less thing to worry about. Even though I'm on vacation, I can't forget about priorities back home.
We had a bite to eat and went to the man made beach, the opera house and the queen's castle.
The highlight of the day was going to a restaurant called Höst. What an experience. Since it was Christian's birthday, we decided to try it out. I'm glad we did. The menu was set and we basically had 2 menus to choose from. We decided to try the goose breast option. It included an appetizer, the main entree and a dessert. We were pleasantly surprised when we kept getting little dishes in between. The waitress would tell us the details of the dish. Here is what we had (from what I can remember):
- Stuffed new potatoes rolled in ash, served on mayonnaise
- Scallops with chopped radish and iced granita
- Flounder with airy blue mussel sauce and ash rolled cucumber with cucumber gel
- Puff buttermilk bun with salmon cream cheese
- Beef tar-tar with baby mushrooms and water cress
- Manitoba wheat and malt bread with lemongrass butter
- Goose breast with prune juice, white and wild green asparagus in a creamy goat cheese sauce
- Buttermilk yogurt with chocolate caramel and freeze dried seat horn berries and pop-sugar (they popped in your mouth like pop-rocks)
- Strawberry sorbet with rhubarb compote and fermented chamomile foam with licorice leaves.
Each course was fresh and very well presented. I was thoroughly impressed.
Another foodie day! I surprised myself with the new foods I tried. Every dish was delicious. This is a restaurant everyone should experience if they visit Copenhagen.
