Travels Begin!
Wakefield, UK
The planning.. If you could call it that.
I like things to be organised and planned. I like to know exactly what I'm doing and when. I'm that person that needed to organise her revision timetable, revision folder and even my desk before I could even begin to contemplate my A-levels. So you could say booking an interrail ticket 2 weeks before the day said ticket started was a little stressful (but exciting) for me. For you travel virgins out there "interrailing" is when you get a train ticket which is valid for all the trains in Europe - hop-on and hop-off at any location you please. It's as easy as that! (Or so I thought.. But that's a different story!)
Oh - another thing to point out. My travel companion; Steve - my cousin and I had very different opinions on the amount of planning needed for said trip. His opinion was that we should just go where we feel and turn up on hostels door-steps and repeat. Mine was more down the "organised fun" route (god I sound like a right bore).. The next two weeks would discover where the line between the two should be drawn.
So it's Saturday (we're catching a flight to Paris on Tuesday) quick text to Steve "have you booked a hostel for Paris?"... No. Chill. It's. Fine. I'm all for trying to be spontaneous but I don't want to sleep on the street?! Put it this way we ended up booking one.
Tuesday morning: ready to go. Passport check; inter-rail tickets check; smallest rucksack in the world with only 5 pairs of knickers... Check.
