We got to Surfers Paradise and the main bus terminal early evening and while waiting for our mini bus to our hostel we came across what we thought was a small child sitting on a bench. Concerned for her safety we thought we'd better check if she was ok and fortunately she turned out to be a pocket sized 24yr old called Bec who was staying at our hostel - and to Gav's delight he later found out that she owned a pair of hair straightners, no other than god dam GHD as well!. That evening we were recommended an eatery(The RSL) by a lad in our dorm, and decided to check it out with ickle Bec in tow. Apart from the fact the place was full of geriatrics playing bingo and stank of urine it was actually very good as we plied ourselves with huge steaks and plates of chips for mere pittance - no more pasta shells for us, well just for a few days maybe! Then we all went into Surfers to find it just like being in Magaluf or Tenerife, so being Brits on tour we drank as true Englishmen should - into oblivion! The next day was spent lounging around and looking for any useless crap in the tat shops. The evening began by going to our now most favorite restaurant/bingo hall/steakhouse/hospice/British Legion to see our new friends Ethel, Eileen and Percy - what a hoot they were! (They'll be remembered fondly in our hearts and may they now rest in peace). It was then on to a Tenerife style bar crawl with reps on every street corner leading you in to quiet bars to serve you mocktails due to the lack of alcoholic content in them! -  It was like being 18 again. Somehow we both made it home safely and fell asleep in the correct beds.................. only for Chris to wake in the morning in another mans bed! Not knowing how he got there we were informed by Bec that he had climbed out of bed after being asleep for an hour, crawled around on the floor for while and then promptly jumped on to the top bunk as opposed to his bottom one, luckily for him the bloke wasn't in his bed, otherwise he maybe still nursing a black eye! The idiot! The next day we went to a mini version of AltonTowers just outside of Surfers called Dreamworld. Only being a small park we didn't hold out much hope that the rides were going to be any good, but to our sheer delight they were all great. The highlights were a scary 120m vertical drop, a very pleasant meandering river ride and the petrifying "Freezer" - the scariest ride we've ever been on, we screamed our way through it like a 6yr old being locked in a room with Gary Glitter!! As our day as big kids at the theme park came to an end, by this time we were both getting hungry, and being our last night in Surfers we thought we must spend it with our pals down The RSL. And even with the remains of p#ss in our pants thanks to The Freezer ride being surrounded by incontinent pensioners we knew we'd blend in a treat! Now off to ByronBay and you shall be updated shortly..........................
