Got up early from our accommodation in Teman Negara and waited for the bus outside where we thought we had been told we were being picked up from. However, as time ticked on and no bus arrived we assumed we may not have listened correctly so decided to walk to the main road, only to just get there in time to see the bus nearly leave without us - again!! As it turned out Walter and Bridgette were also heading to Cameron Highlands and were on the same bus.
On to the Cameron Highlands - a major tea plantation and strawberry farming area that’s 6,660 feet above sea level. As you can imagine the majority of the journey was uphill and the transport not being the best it really struggled up some of the steep inclines. We eventually made it to the Cameron Highlands gateway town of Tanah Rata, and all of us were praying for the sale of alcohol as we had been deprived of it for the last 4 days. Our prayers were answered and we found a small bar selling Tiger beer on draught so that night we went out and made sure we topped up our systems incase the unthinkable happened again! The next day we all went on a tour together and visited a tea plantation, strawberry field, honey farm, insects farm, rose gardens and mosque. At the tea, strawberry, honey and insect stop offs we obviously sampled a little bit of each delicacy but we didn’t think much to the deep fried tarantula! That evening we went out on the razz again and learnt even more Dutch drinking games and a little about the ways of Dutch students - they’re too lazy to walk to toilets so they p*ss in the nearest sink! Nice!
Next to KL - thats Kuala Lumpar for all you non-backpackers!
