I woke up at 6:00am by a rooster crowing, then at 8:00 by workmen. We finally decided to get up and look around. We went down a plank onto a coral beach. The waves were pretty blue and the water was crystal clear. We also found there was lots of coconuts around the hotel. We had breakfast at the hotel, I asked for bananas and pancakes and they said they had no bananas!
We decided to look around the island on a bus. Mum had read the bus time table wrong so we waited 45 minutes for the bus going to town. We finally got to town. Before the bus came two people had stopped to tell us not to stand under coconut trees. There have been more coconut deaths than shark killings. We looked around town then got on the bus and went to Muri Lagoon.
We got onto the beach and saw a man up a coconut tree pulling coconuts down and chopping them. He asked me if I wanted a coconut and I gladly took it. The juice is better in the not ripe ones from the ones we get at home. I drank most of the juice and then dad took me out wading in the water to look at trigger fish.
Then we walked up to a bus stop and waited for bus. When we finally got back to the motel we found we were in time for coconut tree climbing. So we had some more coconut. We quickly devoured it and left some outside for an ant trap. Before we went to supper we were walking on the beach and we saw a humpback whale swimming 100 meters away from shore. We walked to Potafino and had a nice seafood dinner. Then we caught the bus back to the hotel. When I went to look at the waves through the window and I saw a hermit crab at the coconut. At first it looked like a tarantula! Great day! Wonderful, I love it here.
