Landed fine and picked up the hire car (a Chevvy something SUV). Nearly gave us whiplash as the brakes are a tad sharp but maybe it's because I couldn't work out the handbreak button straight away...

After about an hour and a half's driving, arrived at the Town House Motel in Lancaster just north of LA. it has a large neon sign!
