The last few days have been beyond hectic. kirsty roped me into doing a 2 day trek which the hostel was organizing. first stop was an elephant show..sounds good but it wasnt; not that the elephants weren't great but the fact that they were forced to perform 3 times a day, chained up, and hit with a stick with a metal spike on the end if they werent doing what they were meant to, was just too much for me to handle. i mean its not natural to see and elephant playing football or painting pictures..yes painting pictures, and quite good they were too! after the show we walked round to the elephant nursery which was in the middle of a beautiful lush green valley. here it was a little more humane they weren't forced to do anytihng and we could get up close and feed them banana's and sugar cane. not 1005 sure on my take of places like these i mean i know to an extent that they are protecting the elephants from poachers and ensuring they are fed etc but they was they are treated just feels wrong to me.
