Pushkar, India
Well. Where to start? The last 48 hours have been some of the most confusing, exciting, frustrating and humbling of my life. Which sounds like a BBC soundbyte, but is genuinely true. I'm going to start like all the best stories do - in the middle of things.
Sacred Pushkar is a small town in the Rajasthan region of North West India and is home to over one hundred hindu temples. Its a busy area and my first real experience of an Indian neighbourhood, which is bustling with cars, bikes, carts, camels, cows and thousands of people.
I had a wander early this morning when it was relatively quiet and saw the local men setting up shop and women doing the housework. Feeling quite ashamed of how much easier and comfortable my life was compared to theirs I could barely look them in the face at first but almost everyone I walked past greeted me so warmly and genuinely it didn't take long before I felt much more at ease.
There's a few sites to see in Pushkar and I've been thinking I might stick around for a week or so to get used to the climate and culture a bit more. I know the photos are a bit rubbish but I'll hopefully get some more up soon.
