I'm in Bangkok again (for about the third time) and actually did some sightseeing here for a change. And I lived inside the MBK mall for a day and bought many shiny things.
Anyways in Ko Tao I passed my open water course and had two amazing dives on the last day!! Saw stingrays and puffer fish and a very lost lionfish and I have a great DVD for the whole thing as an underwater cameralady came and filmed us. Went out that night and celebrated and then spent the whole night gradually getting more ill. The next day I couldn't eat or drink anything and felt really rough so I stumbled to the hospital/clinic thing where they stabbed me a lot with needles and attached me to a glucose drip. God I hated that drip, following me everywhere and trying to fall over all the time. So I spent 3 nights in hospital with a virus thing and though the illness was hell the hospital was luxury. Was a little worried I'd got dengue fever/malaria/hepititis/cholera because the only book I had was my travel health book and a lot of time to think and watch bad movies.
When I escaped I went on another two dives just for fun and saw some amazing sealife. Went through an underwater tunnel as well which was damn cool. Then I rented a quad bike and explored the more remote bits of the island and met the slightly odd people staying there. I didn't fall off once even though there are no proper roads bar one and it can get very steep. Was fun though - I found a beach with no-one on which was like proper paradise.
Took a long bus ride back to Bangkok on the 23rd. Met a girl called Gene from Quebec on t'bus and we went to the Grand Palace the next day, which was very golden and beautiful, but we got really hot and dizzy so went and hid in MBK (a giant shopping market/mall) and shopped and watched movies. Next day I went back to MBK, spent far too much and made my head spin. Today I got lost finding the post office and have found a nice internet cafe so will try and upload my photos! Tomorrow I fly to Sydney and leave Asia after 4 months! No more haggling or language barrier or strange food or weird cultural things, I'm going to miss it! At least no more 30 plus temperatures and sweating for a week at least :D.
Hope you're all well, see you in a month.
