Chi, our English-speaking, expert cyclist and tour guide deserves his own entry.
His name is cruelly difficult for westerners to pronounce. If you say Chi, that it a man's name, his in fact.
But if you say, Chi, well now that's wrong. That's a girl's name.
And if you say Chi. Well that's just rude. You just called him your sister.
Chi is a very quiet and modest man. But being human, he has his faults. My favourite is his ability to warn you of something some time after the point at which it would have been useful to know.
Such as
" please make sure you pick up your passport from reception " after the bus has pulled away
" this is a good spot for a photo " when no one has their camera, and
" I don't trust the street food here "
Thanks mate.
However, he did, after much pleading, agree to teach me Chinese chess, which is brilliant. I am awful at it, but it is a delight. Be warned, I am bringing a set back with me...
