Yo dudes and welcome to anothe rupdate on my fun and games! Its almost like an interactive gift for each and everyone of you, basically just to piss u off even more when ur in work, in boring old UK, messing!
So once again we have been traveling lng distances and covering alot of ground, i think the last time i did an update i had just arrived in Cambodia and now i have been in Vietnam for just over a week so il just do the usual stuff and let u have a taste of what we got to experiance:
Cambodia
Cambodia was pretty kool although we only spent one week there and visited two different places, it is full of history which was really interesting and pretty gorry to. Firstly we arrived in Phnom Penh and checked into a pretty basic hostel, but it had everything we needed, when i say that it had a bed and a random shower which we have come to call luxary items! The guy was pretty helpful and the hostel had just opened so he actually sorted our vietnam visa's and busses etc which was brilliant In Phnom Penh we visited the Killing Fields which became famous during the Khmer Rouge communist movement from 1975 - 1979 (not long ago), the ruler was called Pol Pot, to cut a long story short he basically killed everyone whom was educated, including doctors, teachers etc. He killed thousands of people before it was discovered and when walking around the killing fields there are bits of bones sticking out of ground and they have a memorial tower which is full of human skulls, it was madness and i cant believe it happened only like 39years ago! It was really interesting and we also visited the prison!
From here we headed up to Siem Reip, which is home of the Angkor Wat temples, they are amazing, these where the temples where Tomb Riader was filmed, we rented bikes and cycled round a load of the temples which are spread around a huge area and enjoyed our day doing this! We also had a realy good hostel for cheap so we enjoyed a bit of clean living with cereal for breakfast, i cant say the breaky was as good as my ole favourite cocco pops and porridge but it did the job!
To get to Vietnam we headed back to Phnom Penh and got our visa's and then a bus to Vietnam! Cambodia is all was pretty kool and the history / temples where really interesting although we did not get time to experiance anything else!
Vietnam
We arrived in Vietnam and our first stop was the capital city of the south called Ho Chi Minh. It is a big city but i really did enjoy it. Again full of history regarding the Vietnam war, which madly seemed to go on forever, i think in total the country was at war with one country or another for over 20years which again is mental! We visited the War Museum which focused on the american war and for the first time in my life i actually looked around and had to leave as it was making me feel really uncomfrotable, im a wimp i know but they have some mad stuff on display and the facts are just unbelievable! We walked around the city for a full day looking at all the other sites including cathedral and Reunification Palace etc. Had good craic in the hostel and met alot of people which obviously resulted in a party on one of the nights so we ended up chilling the next day! On our last day we went to the Cu Chi Tunnels and they where awesome, it was a tour of all the underground tunnels that the Vietnam people used to fight in the war, it was such a good tour and we got to go in the tunnels and things, they are so small and so well designed, was very interesting!
From here we jumped the bus to Muni Beach, it was so quiet, no one was around but our beach hut was nice and right on the beach so we chilled there for a few days, Obv not much to do so we had a few drinks and wasted the day away, which was really nice! We also did a tour of the Red then White Sandunes which are kool, huge sanddunes in the middle of knowehere, pretty funky!
Then we jumped the bus to Na Thrrang, it again is a costal cirt so we walked around the beach and the city! We bookred to go on a boat trip for like $6 which brought us to 4 islands and snorkling, to be honnest it was really dissapointing to start with as the coral was dead, not many fish and u didnt get onto the 4 islands. BUT THEN THE FLOATING BAR CAME OUT! This was brilliant, it was bsically a metal seat surrounded by floats, the bar man would sit in this and float in the sea while we all lay in tubes and he poured us huge amounts of vodka orange, this was great criac, only in vietnam could you get such a mix i.e. Sea and drink! Safe to say we got on the buckets after the trip and had a good evening! The next day myself and zoe went to the Mud Baths and Hot Springs, i had heard they were pretty kool! for 3pounds you go in a mud bath for 15minutes folowed by a hot spring water bath for 45minutes and then use of the swimming pool and stuff, was pretty good and id recommend anyone to do it! Plus it helped the hang over.
We have now just arrived in Hoi Ann, we have just arrived of the 13hour bus trip and checked into hotel! There is loads of history and stuff here aparantly so we will have an explore later today! It pretty handy we have been traveling by bus from South up to North, u can buy an open bus ticket which you hop on and hop off so its really cheap, altho the buses are not made for comfortable journeys lol!
So thats everything really, having an awesome time! Vietnam is really kool and im looking forward to some fun trips we have planned! It feels like i have been away for ages and im missing you guys at home and also home comforts, but hey im sure i will survive, Money tighter than a ducks ass and we still ahve another 9weeks before we land in OZ, our plan for OZ is to go to Brisbane and try get work straight away and work until xmas!
Hpe all is well at home and your not working to hard dudes!
Have a gooden
Tommy xx
