Hey guys :)
Sorry I havnt updated this for a while, I couldnt really do it in cape town as the comp was so slow and the internet was to expensive to sit using for any lenght of time. They'll now be to weeks worth here, my week in cape town and a bit of the school weeks either side of it. What a week it was in Cape Town, and I conquered my fear of hights pretty much :)
Thursday 17th March
The last day before the holiday, YAY! Had grade 4 today, were horrible, then two grade 8 classes which were supprising ok, even more of a suprise was that I managed to keep my two favorite student of all time (not) under control. Then in afternoon I chilled and went to the Grey Lady tea room with Megan, Wiehan, Becca and Flic, where we had a good chat and a cup of coffee and cake :) Then later we celebrated because England beat the West Indies in the cricket :)
Friday 18th March
What an eventful day! I left the hostel at 7 with Megan and started off down towards Cape Town, arriving in Queenstown later on, our first stop. Unfortunatly this is where our troubles began as the car broke down. It was pouring with rain as well. So we just sat there and laughed it off. Then a big lorry went by and drove through an enourmous puddle, which then emptied through the open window all over me and Megan. So we just laughed again, lol. We were picking Megans mum up here and carrying on to Grahams Town, so we had a problem as we had no car. The only car we could get hold off was a large builders truck with a drivers seat and a small bench seat. So we all squashed into that :) That was a fun journey, lol, certainly one I won't forget. When we got to Grahams Town we picked up Megans sister and swapped to her car, then carried on to Cape Town, with a few stops along the way. I tired osterich Biltong as well. We then arrived in George Town in the evening and stayed at Megans, mums cousins for the night. We had a few drinks then had the most amazing meal Ive had since I've been out here, as the rest has been hostel food. Then my bed was the comfiest ever as well, at least again since I've been here. I also had HOT water for the first time in a month. YAY.
Saturday 19th March
A mixed day. Woke up and had a great breakfast, then we departed for Sommerset West. When we arrived we had a great lunch in the sun :) I then had to get to Cape Town, there were no buses so that was out, so the train was suggested, I really didnt want to do this, slightly worried about it, but luckily the station was closed so that solved that. The only other option then was a shuttle from the Hotel there, the little sh**s charged me R430 and its only 15-20min to Cape Town from there. Thats what I payed to get back from CT to Bloem! Once in CT I felt very lonley again, like when I arrived in LG, didnt know anyone, my dorm room was a tip and it was hotter than I've ever felt it. About 30 - 35 in the room! I then met two girls staying in the room so started talking to them, was going to go to the carnival with them but they hadn't left by midnight and I was pretty tired from all the travelling so didnt go. They missed it anyways as they were so late. Worst night in a long time, hot, loud and couldnt sleep :/
Sunday 20th March
A day I wont forget. All the tours I booked got mixed up, so instead of the cape point your I did the Wine lands tour which was amazing. We went to Fairview, Seidleberg and Solms Delta :) At the first 1 I had 8 wines, only supposed to be 6 but I got 1 extra for living in the 5th worst city in the world and I managed to talk him round for another :D Also had some cheese tasting. At the second we had 6, including a SA champagne, (MMC.) The 3rd one which I didnt mention we only tried 3, but we could chose 2 of those to have with our lunch, which was amazing by the way :) The last place we tried 8 wines, including a sparkling red, sitting under a tree overlooking the Vineyards. In total I tried 27 wines, and drunk just over a bottle of wine, all between 10 in the morn and 15 :00. It was a really warm and sunny day which made it even better. We also walked throught the vineyard at this one and could pick a bunch of the grapes they used to make the Merlot. It was great :) I was, to say the least, a little bit tipsy by 15:00 and may have fell asleep in the way back, lol. I slept very well that night :)
Monday 21st March
Incredible day. Picked up at 5.30 for shark cage diving and drove 2 hours to Gansbaii. There we had breakfast before getting on the boat and going out for 15 min before dropping the anchor. After the bait and been thrown in we only waited about 10min before the first Great White appeared :) One of the sharks jumped up towards the boat when it went for the bait and the momentum carried it straight into the cage, knocking the boat side to side, followed by a wave of water being thrown over us from its tail. Then it was my turn, I saw 3 or 4 of them under the water, really close, they are so awesome, and BIG! The water was absolutly bloody freezing though, never felt anything like it. So from then I just watched from the boat :) Then we went to Gyser Island, home to 30,000 - 40,000 Cape fur seals, wow it stank, lol. After this we headed back to shore and had lunch and a glass of wine while they showed us the DVD of the day, (which I bought, will be on its way to england next week) Was an amazing day, apparently we were really lucky to see so many sharks, we saw 5/6 we stuck around all day, as it's the middle of the low season. The dive master said we'd had the 2nd best day of the low season. Lucky :D Awesome Day :) Unforgettable.
Tuesday 22nd March
I didn't have anything booked today and the weather was grey and cool so I went to the Two oceans aquarium and the Waterfront craft market. The aquarium was really good, split into the Atlantic ocean and Indian Ocean. Then after lunch at the aquarium I went to the market which was great but expensive. Seeing as it was pretty close I then went to Victoria Whalf and had a look around all the shops, there are some very nice ones, although I didnt spend anything, was a bit budget concious :/ The back at the hostel I started talking to a young Italien guy and found out that he'd also had a Pneumathorax, last year after he graduated. He'd only had one but it had needed a chest drain :/ Was quite and interessting conversation.
Wednesday 23rd March
Had a lazy morning untill 10:30 then waited for Annabel, Natalie and Charlotte to arrive. We went on the red bus city tour which was quite good except it was very cloudy and drizzled for most of it, so we didnt get any views from up at the cable car :/ Then we went for fish and chips in Long Street which were very nice. In the evening we just looked up holiday info and hung out in the bar. A good evening :) I also found a Mars bar in Cape town that night :D not the same as at home though :/
Right, I'm getting slightly fed up with typing now, I'll finsh the rest tomorrow, up to date to today.
Cya :)
