Early morning coach trip to Udaipur. We were all thoroughly annoyed with all the pothole roads, constant horn blowing and the crazy unnescesary rush to get everywhere! We arrived in Udaipur and we were once again pleasently surprised with the accomodation. We had an orientation walk around the town and were lucky to find that we had arrived the day that a festival was going on.
Udaipur is famous for its miniture paintings. This sounded rubbish to me however I was soon won over when we visited a local artist shop. The artist drew various detailed drawings on our finger nails. These were unbelievable! This meant we had to get a lesson later that day. This lesson was done in a tiny room on the floor. We both learnt how to draw a peacock. Our copies were quite honestly pathetic. We were mainly sat in astonishment at how good the master artist was. Emily decided to keep quite about the fact she had done fine art at A-Level...I will try and put photos up of our masterpieces.
We had no idea what the festival was about, however we felt it best to stand right in the centre of all the action. There were colourful dancers everywhere. Some were quite obviously cross dressers aswell...weird. Our tour guide managed to get us a VIP area on the top of the building but this was shortlived as we preferred to be in amongst all the shenanigans occurring on the ground. Many pictures were taken.
This was a great day. The only think I failed to mention was that the food was impressivelyy horrendous... We were however having a cooking lesson by a local superstar spice man tomorrow so we would hopefully be able to cook for ourselves!
