When we got off the bus we shared a taxi with 2 German guys who were also staying in Chinatown to half the cost but it didnt make a lot difference as we we both needed to stop off at an ATM and the taxi driver kept driving around Chinatown maybe to bump the fare up. Anyway we checked into a lovely hotel called The Inn @ Temple St which was was built above a row of old Chinese shops. The room was really small but neatly furnished, once our suitcases were in there wasn't much room for us but we knew we wasn't going to spend much time in the room.
We messaged our friend Mark and got directions of where to meet him. We hopped into a taxi but could not get near Mark's hotel as they shut off the roads that were used for the FI circuit. We could see his hotel The Manderin Oriental but just couldn't get to it, we was directed towards Marina Bay Shopping mall where we had to get a train. About an hour later me reached the Manderin. It was great to see Mark coming down In a glass lift in this wonderful hotel. We got outside and Mark used his wonderful charm to flag down a taxi which used the underground car parks to get us across Singapore. We got to Boat Quay which was really busy and we remembered being there about 5 years ago. The atmosphere was buzzing and we sat in a India restaurant on the river with the most amazing views of Singapore and the wonderful Fullerton hotel. We enjoyed an Indian meal, cold tiger beer and chatted away about our travels and caught up from Mark news from home. Mark then gave us an exciting package of our passes for the weekend.
We was totally blown away by the plans he had for us at the Grand Prix and the passes were a real surprise as they would give us access to almost all areas of the GP for the whole weekend. We left the restaurant and sat and had a couple more drinks in bar and decided to call it a night and arranged to meet Mark the next day at his hotel.
