DAY 3
Leith woke us up at 4.30am...yes AM! this morning. I have never seen anyone as lively as him at such a time. He is clinically insane! Anyway we drove to a placecalled The Olgas which are a set of rocks not too far away from Ayres rock so we could watch the sunrise over Ayres Rock and The Olgas. It was beautiful but a bit early for us to really take it in!
After a quick breakfast we set off on a walk around the Olgas before it got to hot. It wasn't to bad until we came to the end and just saw a huge climb up staring us in the face. we managed it but it took every last bit of energy i had. We were dripping with sweat.
That was the extent of our exersice for the day. We had a BBQ and then headed over to a campsite for the afternoon. Yes we were staying in a campsite tonight but we were still sleeping under the stars! We all jumped in the pool as soon as we saw it while poor Leith cooked us up a great Thai curry for dinner.
We spent the evening around a campfire again and drank quite a bit of whiskey. Some real life cowboys from the ranch we were staying on came to join us which was pretty cool. Until they told us that they had killed a King Brown snake that afternoon in the campsite. the King Brown is one of the deadliest snakes in Oz and you have about 1/2 hour to get help before your killed by the bite. Now considering we were in the middle of the outback with nothing around us for hundreds of miles we would have been dead if we had been bitten! Great! To make matters worse we also stumbled upon a scorpion roaming around the campsite too. Lets just say not everyone slept well that night...even with the copious amounts of whiskey we drank!
