just the perfect end to an unforgettable trip! having researched long and hard deciding which tropical island to stay on, we picked two..treasure island and matamanoa in the manamanucas.
arriving in fiji we were greeted by a huge camp guy who took us on a drive through the local village before dropping us off to catch our ferry. a little shocked by how underdeveloped teh country was.
anyway having braved the rockiest of boat journeys in the pitch black, we were greeted with a 'bula' welcome sung by the staff and guitar player - it was lovely!
our accomodation was cool, a bure as its known is basically a thatched wooden hut, and it had an ocean view with a hammock out the front. too late and tired we hit the bed for a good nights sleep.
the morning view was amazing, perfect clear waters fringed with coral and our island found to be really small. we spent much of our days chillin in the sun but did find time to snorkel, kayak, walk around the island (which took us all of 10 minutes!) and hired a jet ski on our last day - loved it!! our first full day was a sunday so we were invited to the local village church for their service, all conducted in fijian but still an experience.
the fijian people were just so humble and beautiful. they were really interested in who you were and what you were doing. each night they got together and entertained us with there happy singing and dancing - all smiles!!
unfortunately having to split our stay in half on our first island we ventured onto our paradise island 'matamanoa'. we had booked a beachfront bure here also but found they couldn't accomodate us as they had double booked our room - gutted...or not! they then offered us the owners penthouse suite with panaramic views of the ocean! it had its own private balcony and jacuzzi. here we chilled at the poolside and enjoyed the food whilst being seranaded by the aoustic band - how romantic!
we spent the last few days, enjoying the sun and topping up our tans (making the most of it). we were cooked dinner at our table in the lovely flambe restuarant and joined in our farewell dance - oh dear! so glad you guys weren't there to witness it, especially when we followed it up with the 'okey pokey' (and yes not the cokey but the pokey!).
really sad to leave but have really happy memories. now just to complete the last leg of our journey and we will be home to see you all soon.
love to you all xxx
