What a great final week in Ko Samui we have had, full moon parties, beautiful scenery, lots of activity and of course more relaxing on the beach or by the pool. After our latest blog entry last Tuesday we decided to hire a jeep on Wednesday. It was a great way to get around the island, if not a little scary at times, but we came through it unscathed. In the jeep we visited the town of Chaweng lots of waterfalls and some great sights, not to mention the football golf, which is golf, with a football. That was great fun we both went round in a par 66 which I know sounds like a fix but I can honestly say that it wasn't and I think we will all agree that sport was the real winner. All photos for the above can be found in the album Ko Samui 2.
We spent Thursday and Friday in the town of Chaweng again where we did a little bit of shopping and wondering around looking at little market stalls. We also ventured to the beach once again to keep our tan's in tip top condition, ok well to keep Claire's tan in tip top condition.
Before we new it the weekend and full moon had arrived and on Saturday evening it was party time on the beach. We left the hotel at around 10pm and we were due to leave on the speedboat to the smaller sister island of Ko Phangan (where the party was). Well to say boarding the boat was a bit of a palaver would be the biggest understatement of the century. We did eventually board the boat at about 1.30 in the morning, but not to worry, the hard bit was now over and the Party would begin!! We arrived on the island and ventured down to the beach where the party was 'going down' (i'm so hip), there was a beach full over well over 10,000 people and it was absolute bedlam. A few drinks and dance moves later we decided to get the boat back, and when I said before that the hard bit was over, boy was I wrong. Again it was a good hour waiting to get on the boat back, but never the less we arrived back in Ko Samui at about 5.30 in the morning, we debated going to breakfast but decided against it and went to bed after a mixed evening, on the whole I'd say it was worth the experience but if I were to do it again and probably plan it a little differently.
As you can imagine we took a day or too to recover and catch up on some sleep, never the less we booked a tour to the Ang thong (he he 'thong') national park where we were to do Kayaking, Snorkeling, Swimming and lots of Sightseeing. I think it would be wise to let the pictures do the talking for this one as I can't possibly think of any adjectives to describe how gorgeous the national park was, so check out the latest album, it was really stunning, and we had a brilliant day!
Well we can't believe that our time in Ko Samui and Thailand as a whole is coming to an end. It seems like only yesterday we were arriving in Bangkok and getting used to our new way of life and all of a sudden here we are over a month later and it's almost destination Australia.
Thailand has been a great experience and a great place to start our adventure, after you get used to the hustle and bustle of Bangkok there are some great things to do there and all at a fairly good price, 50p for a bottle of Beer isn't too bad I suppose.
Thanks for reading our blog please keep leaving messages on the message board we really enjoy getting them.
Oh and well done to Jake for passing your driving test, you rock!!
