Hola Amigos!
Here it is...the first blog entry from Argentina! Lets start from the beginning...
We left Sao Paulo and got an overnight bus directly to Foz do Iguazu (the Brazilian side of Iguazu falls). We wasted no time and visited the falls that day. They were very impressive, however they could not be compared to the Argentinian side where you can get right up close to the waterfalls and you stand directly above the main one- The Devils Throat. We also took a boat trip this side which took us along the rapids of the Iguazu river and under some of the waterfalls, we got drenched! Our hostel in Puerto Iguazu (the Argentinain side) was more like a backpacker´s hotel with a huge swimming pool and so many rooms built in an ex-casino.
After a few days on either side we took the journey south to Buenos Aires. We splashed out on the bus ticket choosing ´cama total´ which is the famous first class service. We had dinner, films (on a personal tele), leather seats which turned into beds, whisky, champagne and breakfast! I was not feeling too good on the bus so I made the most of the bed-seat by sleeping a lot but Tom ate and drank for both of us. The first few days in Buenos Aires we both felt really rough with upset stomachs and fevers, however it soon passed and we were ready to explore the city. Since being in Buenos Aires we have visited the famous Obilesco, the balcony where Evita made her famous speech, visited a really cool cemetry which had magnificent tombs for each individual coffin or families (we took lots of photos). Yesterday we saw a La Boca Juniors football match which was exciting. They are one of the biggest teams in Argentina and they won 4-0! Tomorrow we want to go and watch a Tango show. We have also been to a few markets and lots of shops and ice cream parlours! Best of all we have been to some great restaurants for...you guessed it...STEAK! Big fat juicy steak!
So, now we are heading for Patagonia for a change in climate and scenery. We have prepared ourselves for the cold and we are heading for the worlds southern most city- Ushuaia. Its a long journey and we will break it up by visiting Puerto Madryn where there is the worlds largest penguin colony.
More photos are on the way..
