Tom & Anna's World Tour
Hello All,
We are having an amazing time in NYC! Hope you have enjoyed looking at the first installment of our pictures! As you can see we have been up the Empire State Building, and sampled a few of the local delights! On our first night, we arrived at around 7pm New York time after a very enjoyable flight. Virgin in-flight entertainment in second to none! After checking into our hostel (basic but clean and friendly people) we headed into the city. We both bought 7 day subway passes, so we can start as we mean to go on, on a budget! First stop was a well needed cappucino in Bryant Park, then to the bright lights of Times Square where we got a hot diggidy dog and a pretzel.
Next morning, Tom found Bloom's diner, the place he visited before. It was the biggest and most carbohydrate saturated breakfast we had eaten in a long time!! But extremely tasty, pancakes and french toast with plenty of maple syrup and bacon! mmm!! Set us up for a trip to NY's tallest builiding, The Empire State!! Visability was quite poor, we did endevour to find this out before we went up, however the tour guide looked perplexed when Anna used the word 'visability', she said it was about a 10 - 15??!! Cant say I've ever heard of visability being measured by such a scale!! We do plan to go up at night, Tom say's it's much more impressive! After coming down, we took a walk to Macy's and visited a few cool shops. (Ryan you would have a field day with these huge Yank clothes!)
Next stop was Madison square garden where we took a guided tour around one of America's most famous sporting arenas. It's home to the New York Knicks basketball team and the Rangers NHL team. We visited the locker rooms, the executive suites above the arena, and went courtside. It was really enjoyable, and the boxing memrobilia at the top was a real sight. Tom stood on the same scales where Cassius Clay and other greats weighed in before big fights here.
Later that evening we visited St Mark's Square which is in the Lower East Side not far from our hostel, it's really cultural round here and the food and music is great. We had litertally the best and biggest pizza of our lives at Ray's Pizza parlour, and some lovley rolling rock beer (bigger bottles here!) We then went to The Continental Bar, which was really good fun, there were a few bands playing, the first one was very odd, but they got better as the night went on!!
Today we've been farting around in interent cafe's trying to sort this site out, so we hope you are impressed!?
We are off to rollerblade round Central Park, and go to the zoo. Anna also wants to go to the biggest toy shop in the world, Toys 'R' Us, there is a huge ferris wheel inside the store!! Very exciting!!
Please write more messages, will be in contact soon. The phone number we have put on as a contact does not work in America, so emails only I'm afraid!!
Take Care, lots of Love
Tom and Anna!!
