A little bit of this, a little bit of that
The world is a rather funny place. Since I have more than enough time to contemplate every aspect of life, I have come to this conclusion. Although I do not have much to report, here are a few things that I have come across or things that have happened to me in the past few days..
-I GOT MY FIRST CHRISTMAS PRESENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Unfortunately it came when I was suffering from stomach sickness, so the excitement from seeing it almost resulted in sending me running to the bathroom, but I don't care! I have a present! It's even double wrapped in brown paper and christmas wrapping paper! Zach intelligently suggested that the sticker claiming what was in it for insurance purposes should be ripped off so it doesn't spoil it for me, so that happened. It's sitting under our christmas branches and my ornament. Having it sit there however has made me realize that since that is basically the only part of christmas that will be the same, I have returned to childlike behaviour and everytime I walk past it I have to fight my extreme urge to rip the package open. Today I actually had to go talk to Zach, who was at work, to distract myself from doing so. Anyways, THANK YOU Diane and Gary!! You have no idea the happiness that that brought me!
-When I say Christmas branches, I mean branches. I call it our "Kenton and Kira Christmas Tree"
-My computer is destroyed. Well, in comparison to the problems it's had previously it's still in pretty good shape, but the power cord completely disconnected from the place where you plug it in. It's difficult to describe, but the point is that all of the wires have broken so now my computer with no working battery cannot be turned on. Of course this would happen. As a result, there will not be any photo album updates until I get a new power cord, which is heeeel duur (so expensive)! Boo urnes
-Today I was told not to get my hopes up about snowing coming for Christmas, this slightly dampened my spirits.
-There is a group from Africa staying here, they arrived last weekend bundled from head to toe in winter apparel. As badly as I felt for them, I had to smile because all you could see were their smiling eyes when they came and asked me questions. However the joke really was on all the housekeeping ladies because we had to clean all their rooms today (as if they were new guests since they're staying so long) and they were SO HOT! We all thought we were going to die of heat stroke. This group is here having discussions about funding for their facilities in Africa since their funding has been cut as a result of their refusal to remove religious statements from their mission statement. Go them.
-As a result of this group being here, my English has come in handy! I've been called by the kitchen staff a few times to translate things, the most difficult being when they told me to explain what kind of soup something was. How in the world do you describe a soup that someone just points at you without giving you a description of it or letting you taste it? I figured it was some sort of french onion or something.
-Birds will not stop flying in my window. I have a half written blog about this but haven't posted it yet. See point #2.
-it's taken me 3 months to find the voltage converter on my blow dryer. That's embarassing. At least I can use it now.
-I'm officially tired of schnitzel.
That is about all for now. A friend from Rotterdam is coming over tomorrow in the afternoon. I still haven't figured out how to transport him from Nunspeet to Mennorode, but we shall see. Time to clean! Adios!

Mr. Potassium and mrs. K. There are a few other things that are funny in this world....Why don't cats pull their tongues all the way into their mouth after licking themselves? If Harry Potter can do magic why does he still have to wear eye glasses? Always love reading about you life there Taliah.
