Our first day in Siem Reap has been good, the locals here are so nice and can't do enough for you. We've moved to the hotel we were supposed to be in last night but think we'll move again tomorrow to a more expensive one with a pool as I've decided I need a swim every day (I'm missing the beach!). Today we went to look around the town which is really nice, it had a lot of French colonial style buildings (French ruled here for 100 yrs) and lots of bars on the apt...

Arrived at our hotel in Phnom Phen in Cambodia about 5pm Monday - we got in moto (like tuk tuk) and had that nervous trip to the hotel when every time the moto slows down on some grubby little back street you keep thinking 'please don't let it be here', combined with the 'is he actually taking us to our hotel or is he going to kidnap us' concerns - however, our room is under £10, it's huge, bug free (yay!), with high ceilings and free wifi and right in centre. ...

In true 'I'm a celebrity...' style, myself and Robin have started talking about things we are missing from home and who we'd be prepared to kill for some baked beans... As such, Mum I've started compiling a shopping list for our return (it may be quite extensive by Feb 2012)... Real sausages - the Thai idea of a full English breakfast involves streaky bacon, frankfurters, sweet bread, and a bit of pineapple and watermelon (which of course is very english?!) I'...

We've just spent 3 days in Railay, which is part of mainland thailand but is like a little quiet island with 3 bays surrounding it. Our first night was extremely traumatic and I'm sure robin will take the piss out of me on his blog about it! We arrived on a long tail boat with no accommodation and had to wade to the shore with our backpacks then make our way to the backpacker side of the island to find somewhere to stay - this, I was fine with. Myself and Robin are now qualified PADI divers! We've had a very stressful 3 days of 6.30am starts, exams, open water dives and exercises, we are very glad it's over and extremely tired (I also suspect I have decompression sickness, but its probably just sleep deprivation...or hypercondria). We've done 4 open water dives and 2 confined water dives in the 3 days. Today we got close to turtles and metre-long reef sharks, which was pretty cool. What was not so cool...
