It was not easy getting up at 4am for our flights to San Francisco. It had been a big day yesterday and feeling rather weary, but within 15 minutes we were in the lobby catching a taxi to Nashville airport. Our taxi driver had moved to Nashville in 1999 from Egypt and so we had a chat about life in Egypt, he loved country music.
Our first flight was to Dallas Fortworth airport where I bought us breakfast/lunch. It was only a 40 minute transfer, but in the end we were at DFW airport for quite awhile. We boarded the plane, but we were soon disembarking because the plane's air conditioner was not working. It was hot and stuffy on the plane and they had to get engineers in to get it fixed. Some 2 hours later we were taxiing and flying out of DFW for San Francisco.
I managed to also buy a postcard and take this photo of a t-shirt in a shop window at DFW airport to say this is "why we only had a transit stop and no overnighter at Dallas". The airport was huge, modern and had plenty of shops to buy food and other items. We are visiting quite a few airports on this trip and each one of them is quite different in style, as they portray their own state. DFW also sold very big cowboy and cow girl hats near this t-shirt (I didnt buy this t-shirt!)
Once back on board the plane to San Francisco, I spent the next 3 hours on the plane doing my travel blog, all about my day at Nashville. Keeping up with the blogs is one of the daily challenges in a busy program. Enforced sitting on planes, trains and buses helps me to catch up.
We don't have much time in San Francisco so the lost time at DFW will impact on what we see and do as tomorrow its a full day going out to Yosemite National Park. But, I am sure once we getvto San Francisco we will be on the go and out and about seeing all we can possibly fit in the hours we have available.
