Tina had made us a great breakfast of pancakes, fruit and muffins which we heartedly enjoyed. It was then time to go exploring Stanley Park, Downtown Vancouver and Granville Island.
Stanley Park was full of large trees, terrific views of the city and water ways, excellent walkways and cycle paths and interesting exhibits. We stopped to take photos of trees, city views and totem poles! As it was school holidays, there were plenty of locals in the park who were also enjoying the warm sunny day of a summer's day in Vancouver.
From Stanley Park we then drove to the Aquabus to catch it so that we could have lunch on Granville island. The aquabus was quite small, a little boat ferrying people from one side of the inlet to the other. Vancouver is surrounded by water, everywhere there semed to be waterways to navigate, and the aquabus was an excellent form of teansport- certainly better than swimming the few hundred metres to Granville! At Granville we went to the food court and bought ourselves lunch. I had a great toasted panini. We then wandered through the market area, stopping at various shops and stalls, and finally succumbing to buy cherries and granola. The cherries were huge and deep red, and at $4.99 for 2lb was a real bargain! We caught the Aquabus back to the other side of the inket abd set off again.
Stopping off at the Kanucks Team store we were able to do some shopping for the family. It was a rather large ice hockey stadium and we parked right outside the front door.....nowhere else to park!
Our next stop was at the Vancouver Gelataria Italia, a Family owned business since 1982 which boasted of an incredible 218 flavors, including Vegemite. After surveying all the varieties it was time to make a decision......it was not vegemite.....it was cappuccino chocolate chip and it was delicious!
Having satisfied ourselves with icecream it was time to go home, take Marli for a walk, have dinner, chat some more, and retire for the night. It had been a lovely relaxing day with friends in Vancouver.
