Sadly the time had come to book a flight out of this amazing country, we decided Oz would be our next stop not Taz at the moment, so we have 19 days left here (which we are very sad about). Arriving in Christchurch a quick drive around the city told us just how devestating the earthquake and after shocks had been, not nice and we didnt consider it to be something to stare at, so we decided to stay up near the airport away from the centre and wait for Tims mum and dad (Sally and Keith) to arrive. We did however make a quick detour to New Brighton a little surf town, near Christchurch, with a pier 304 meters long (because the tide goes out so far), sadly no surf though. While we waited for the flight to arrive we decided to see how much free stuff we could blag and the days successes included; some maps for Sally and Keith, fruit, veg, a two man tent (which we will use on oz), beer, some steak, two role matts and a massive reduction on some inflatable matrasses (which we will also use in Oz), not bad for a days work!
The next day Sally and Keith arrived and after we met them at the airport and picked up their extremely posh van, we stopped over in a campsite just south of Christchurch to rest up for the night. The next day we got up and drove south for 200 km to Omarau, where we stopped for lunch right next to a Penguin coleny. Unfortunately the penguins had gone off to fish and wouldnt be back till the evening, so we headed into Omaraus little historic town and had a go on a penny farthing. It was then back on the road for another 130km until we reached Dunedin. Not much going on in Dunedin and Tims mum and dad were on a time limit so the next day we headed west to Te Anau.
Now it was time for Milford Sound departing beautiful Te Anau we took a coach down through the national park and it was absolutly spectular. The sun, mist, lakes, waterfalls that surronded the rugged, steep, snow capped/ green/ barren mountains are something we would definatley reccomended and wont ever forget. We drove all the way to Milford sound where we boarded our boat (with free BBQ) and sailed around the sounds. This made the trip even more amazing and we witnessed bigger waterfalls as our boat drove straight under them (which is when Tim thought it would be a great idea to stand outside). The calm, picturess views included seals (in their natural environment) and a trip to the underwater exploratory centre, which allowed us to see the many fish that lived in the flordlands. Ok so a bus/ boat tour is touristy but not many trips would top this one! Basically words cant describe the beauty of Milford Sound, you will just have to got there!
As Milford sounds was done (for now) the next day we headed to Queenstown and as it was a gorgeous day we went up in the cable car to overlook an amazing view of the mountains and the lake that surround the town. At the top we also had a go on the luge (type of cart) on the racing track that goes down hill. We finished the day with a cheeky meal by the lake and watch another brillant sunset. Sadly the next day Sally and Keith had to push on to stay within their time limit, but it was great to spend nearly 5 days with them!
We decided to do the Shotover jet, which was amazing fun as you went through a tight canyon at 80kph in a jet boat and did lots of 360 spins etc. We got chatting to a girl on the boat and decided to go for a ferg burger and a beer with her.... this turned into several beers and I dont feel chipper today. We did go to the Ice Bar and the World Bar, which were a great laugh. The suns now come up so we are going for a game of Frisbee golf and then we will see what tomorrow brings.
Much love Tim and Chops xx

Did a test this morning with two iPhone 4 s, speedtest.net app, one on 2D, one on VFNZ.1.5mb/s on 2D, 110kb/s on VFNZ. Such is my life (JimmyC has made 54 comments)
