Absolutely amazing place
After a bit of a early and rushed start the running joke was the amount of bags someone had with them. Travelling light was not on the agenda.
We passed through a very cute village to sign paper work for the canoes and to get the park permits. Another 20ks down a dirt track nearly being take out by a logging truck was interesting.
We arrive at the lake about 12 ish packed up and off we go. A slightly rocky start with a bit of a head wind thrown in made for a hard and tiring first go but we got to the first portage where a group in front was struggling slightly so John not so politely told them to get out the way. A little harsh but we helped as much as we could and the carried on trying to carry all johns bags and canoes. Needless to say we had to make several trips ourselves.
Another couple of long paddles through Rain lake another longer portage and finally got to jubilee lake to set up camp. After all the paddling and carrying everyone was tired and hungry. We ate drank ate and then bear proofed the camp before bed. Surprisingly no bear hearings or wolves surrounding us, the drinks did the trick and everyone slept pretty Well
We managed to see some beavers and Lunes and a few other animals but that was about it. We had an amazing fire and outstandingly not many mossies.
We got up early to thick heavy fog so explored the lakes to try see maybe some moose but no joy. Lots of noises coming from the woods but no sightings.
Sunday morning we got up super early to try get back before the major head wind due for the journey back. So 5:15 am we started to pack up but we somehow didn't manage to leave till 8:15 as some people only seem to have one speed. Anyway as we ate most of the food the portage a were much easier we even managed to do one of the in one go. But only one due to a slight disagreement about who carries what. It turns out travelling light is so much better.
The head wind was strong but but we made good time. We packed up dropped the canoes off then the 3.5 hour journey home went very quickly when you sleep most of it.
We will definitely have to go back at some point.
