I decided not to go rafting as I was quite tired so thought I would go on my way back through Uganda, instead thing I would go to an island off the Kenyan coast clled Lamu, which is nice and hot and with old swahili towns etc. It invloved getting a 12 bus rfom Kampala to Nairobi, a 6 huor bus to Mombassa, then a six hour bus to Lamu then a ferry across. Unfortunately, there wasn't a night bus so I had to wait until 6 the next morning, and the bus copany said I could stay there as there is a room peple sleep in to wait for buses, so I thought I would stay there are save some pennies and it would be easier. However, sleeping on a hard floor with my guidebook as a pillow was rather uncomfortable, specally as the conuctors kept coming in to announce other departures. So I got the bus at 6, which left at 7, then 20 minutes down the road the driver got pulled over by the police for reckless driving and arrested, so we had to wait for an hour and a half for a new driver, then later the police cheked the bus thoroughly at a road check which took at hour, and a long with other dewlays we only got ther at 12 that night. So I wondered aronud Nairobi to see if there was any overnight buses to Mombassa which hadnt already left but they all had, so got a hostel and got up at 7.30 the nex day to get the 6 hour bus to mombassa, which only got here at 5.30, which meant I had missed all the busses to Lamu, so I am staying in Mom,bassa for the night. Luckily it iss a nice town, open and warm and breexy, not seedy like Nairobi, wit a very large musluim population,, which unfortunately means Im going to be woken at stupid a clock tomoroow by the mosque near me. But my bus is at 7.15, so I should get there by 1, but ill be happy if we get there by night fall. Apologies for my typing, but this keyboard is rubbihs, and very hard to use, my ands are aching from having to push the keys so hard. I didn't use my boots becAUse I DIDnt really want to as they aer so heavy, but the mn said trainers would be fine, though he forgot to metion the bloody great bogs e would be wading through. I don't know whatto do with them, they will be expensive to send back abnd i dont really want to keep hold of them as they aer heavy and bulky, and a i dont really need them anymore i could try selling them. Bu im not sure. On that note Im probably not going to climb Kili anymore, i t is very expensaive, 500pound for 5 days, and everynoe ive met who has been to tanzania has done it, so it doesn't have the same boasting value, and it is just a standard mountain with loads of tourists, rather than a climb with interesting things along the way. I might just take a picture of me and then paste it ontop of one of the sign at the top saying youve reached the peka, and pretend.I forgot to write the letter i wanted you to send, btut its too much effort on this computer o i will do it next email
