We wake up and just lay there. Realising we are in our last destination. We have nothing to work towards. No place to be. No buses to book. Our South America trip is almost over.
We cracked a window to get some fresh air and enjoyed a hot shower. The luxuries. We decide to walk around the city visiting parks and grand buildings. Most of them seem to be museums, universities and churches. Our first stop after getting our bearings was Park Santa Lucia, it's not like your usual park. It was a mini mountain in the centre of the city with charming castle like buildings.
We stopped off for a schwarma for lunch it was so nice that we ordered a second one to go. Big mistake, within minutes of taking our first bite we both had the salsa sauce down the front of us. After a messy finish we took a slow walk around Parque Forestal which was split into segments each holding its own art piece before heading back to the hostel.
At the hostel we try and apply for more jobs and enquire about more flat shares. Anything to avoid our smelly room. I get the courage to ask reception to move room. Making some lame excuse that he sleeps all day and we don't want to disturb him. Apparently they have had a few issues with him and agree. Result! The receptionist agrees only if I complain to his manager. The deal is struck. When we get back to the dorm there is a new Aussie couple moving in. We get to know them straight away. It would be nice to stay with them, but we move anyway. We arrange to meet them for a drink which ends up being a meal too. We spend pretty much most of the evening with them. We instantly like them and get on and talk about anything. They have been biking down SA for 8 months and are hiring a van to do Patagonia. If only we had the funds to extend our trip.
After a few beers we chill with them at the hostel before heading to bed in our nice fresh room. It's on the top floor and we have the whole dorm to ourselves.
