Tessa here: My day started with a walk out from camp. I dutifully followed David's advice and turned right out of camp to reduce risk of run-ins with wild animals. I soon found myself on the outskirts of a small village and the familiar call of small children and the exchanges of waves commenced. I headed to the only landmark, a mosque. Just beyond this the local fishermen were busy untangling their nets and this was shortly followed by the local fish market, held on a bandstand type structure the women, colourfully dressed, were busy trading and filleting the days catch. I clearly stood out like a sore thumb and most people were friendly and curious. A short while later I arrived back at camp having successfully avoided attacks by hippos, elephants or crocodiles.
And in the afternoon we took a boat tour of the Kazinga Channel to Lake Edward. Multitudes of water buffalo, crocodiles & rhino later we were thrilled to see a small group of bull elephants cooling themselves down in the water. A lovely way to end a very hot day.
