We had a late check out today, just incase we still needed to catch up on our sleep. And we've decided Mumbai isn't such an awesome city after all! It's very very busy!
Scott had freshly made 'American pancakes' at breakfast this morning, not the same thickness of an American pancake in America as I don't think there's enough mixture to go around the ibis hotel for a couple pancakes as there is in a normal sized american stack in America! I had some fruit and a load of orange juice, hopefully the chopped melon won't give me a bad stomach, I'm praying it's all cleaned thorough in a nice hotel like this one. I couldn't stomach the smell of the vegetable samosas and curry for breakfast!
We seen a Bollywood movie being filmed on marine drive, the bollards holding people back were two men holding two pieces of string tied together. It looked the real deal though pale Indians in bright coloured clothes dancing and singing up the street moving their bellies around! Haha.
We went over the beach this afternoon to get away from all the huddle and bustle, it's still a little shock to the system. Scott had his Bollywood claim to fame, once one had a photo they all wanted a photo! Felt like a right fruit loop letting a load of Indian blokes take our photo.. Scott bloody loved it! He had his Wales football top on today aswell, that had them talking about cricket and football; well the conversation was small with lack of English but the famous names were coming up. Seen all the little fisherman boats just out from the shore. There was make shift wooden beach huts on the beach, (they'd pay million for a spot like that in malibu) got it for free here! They must be the fishermen living there, they had their fishing nets hung up in amongst the trees drying off.
Walked up off the beach and down the road, looking for some place to have a drink.
In the middle of a dirty smelly road with tin houses on the side of the road and fast food trolleys everywhere there is a lovely Ramada plaza hotel; it's so surreal!
We decided on the Chinese for dinner, it didn't look very pricey and couldn't find anywhere else for food that wouldn't give us diarrhoea.
It was gorgeous in there, we had shredded duck, vegetable spring rolls, chicken in Cantonese sauce and another noodle and chicken dish, all lovely! We ordered our food on an interactive menu on the laptops, what ever we wanted we just selected! New to us! Even India is ahead of us! (Ross quickly get that idea in your restaurant project before anyone else finds it!) haha.
Back to the hotel to wait and pray that our waitlisted tickets get confirmed for the overnight train to Goa! Thats a horrible waiting process, what if they don't get confirmed? We are a little screwed then.
Nearly forgot.. The tuk tuk driver pointed out a huge building to us, 26 floors in shape of a capital 'E' it belongs to a billionaire and all floors are his house!! Could eat off the floor in there, and then outside there are a couple of shanty huts, people starving to death.
My little faith in the Indian train system pulled through as we got confirmed and was soon on our way to the train station!
The train station was just as busy in the night as it was in the day, we didn't really have much clue on where to go; it took me a while to figure out how to understand the departure board, once I finally did a guy that looked like he had been working on a oily engine of a train came and took us to our train. How did he guess that us white people where going to Goa!?
