People still can't seem to get to grips with how to bag drop and what documents are needed to go through security even with people shouting it out to you in the line to be prepared. I just always feel like I go through within seconds and others are there for hours. Bloody nightmares. Then there goes for security checks, watch off belt off, so you have an iPad. The usual that they just don't know what to do with.
I wasn't in the airport long before the time for boarding had arrived and I was outta there. The flight being only 1 hour I had a long time to wait in the airport before the flight down to Mykonos. But I didn't mind I was going to see MY MUMMY AND DADDY!!
Was lovely to see them, the long wait was over from Christmas! Then Ross arrived but wasn't on the same flight as us so we left him in the airport for a few hours before his.
The flight to Mykonos was 20 minutes but we were delayed so it seemed like a much longer process. The other end, you would think there would be a very straight forward and simple process with taxis etc, but it was completely chaotic and found that the taxi queue was so bloody long - they only have 30 taxis on the whole island apparently which isn't ideal considering the size of it and the volume of people didn't add up and you know those other than some from European countries and Britain don't like to queue, the my didn't like it when I barged them out of the way to get in our taxi.
To be honest we probably could have walked it was so close lol but not without knowing the island and having luggage.
Our hotel matina was in the old town where there were only pedestrian lanes and not streets made for vehicles so we had to walk the last part after dumping our bags we showered and went for a walk and of course a start of the holiday drink. It was so bloody windy in Mykonos! They don't tell you that part. And after checking the google god apparently they have north easterly winds a lot in the summer months - not ideal for a short summer dress.
We are fairly late at the Pelican on the front and Ross was delayed, couldn't find a taxi so put his trust in a seedy man in a car at the airport to drop him off and he came to find us and have a drink.
The next few days we walked and got the public buses to different beaches, the water is so clear! Amazing!
Ross had some very top of the range swimming lessons from me, he bought himself a swim cap even, the next Adam peaty haha. Not so good on the breastroke at the moment though - apparently I'll be working every day this holiday helping him improve swim technique, no rest for the wicked!
We went to Kalafati beach which was lovely, a lot less crowded and windy. Taught Ross to dive again haha, he did a few flops in. He will get there! Later on in the afternoon we walked across to what we thought was another quiet little beach but turns out it was a party cove, absolutely buzzing with a beach brunch, definetly an amazing setting but I wasn't feeling the vibe in my wet costume draw string bag snd flip flops when everyone looked like something off that Towie show or five the palm brunch. Feeling a little out of place dad and Ross wanted to walk straight through them… bloody great!
Our last night on Mykonos we went up to a Mexican restaurant which was delicious, next stop tomorrow morning was Paros!
