Came back after food last night, found animal droppings on the bed... Larry! The lizard. He isn't some tiny little thing he's huge! The sizzle of my forearm easily!
I could feel my chest getting really tight tonight when I got into bed. I'm basically living the worst conditions possible for my asthma! It's hot and dry and we are staying in a bungalow entirely made of wood and sawdust falling from the palmtree leafed roof. I could here the wood tsplitting from the heat aswell. It's awesome.
Anyhow, I managed to survive the night, I slept straight through actually which was surprising as this morning I woke up sweating streams because it was so hot without the fan on after 2.30am! Scott didn't I don't think. He kept checking his phone for football updates! Muhaha, he missed his first game since we have been away - what a shame!
We watched the water buffalo pulling piles of wood this morning, he was right next to the bungalow pulling them down to where they were building more huts, the guy that was guiding him was having a hard time trying to tighten up the rope to make sure the wood wouldn't slip, 4 of his colleagues stood there and watched, well gauped at him. I'd be well s***ty with my colleagues! Haha. Got a great big buffalo with horns the same size of this man and he looks like he's crapping his pants a little. Although I don't think the buffalo would do much with a few tonnes of wood strapped to him.
There is no chance you will be able to have a lie in here, they start tap tap tapping at 8.30am (it's like being back at home!) ha!
Although it's not so bad, when your relaxing with the breeze on the hammock overlooking the sea! The tap tap tapping seems to fade out.
Breakfast a chill on the beach before our boat trip.
I've never seen water quite like it, you wouldn't think we were in Cambodia. We would never have guessed that there were beaches here were like untouched Caribbean beaches with white powdery sand!?
So many people told us to be aware of the sand flies because they are everywhere, we haven't seen any yet and we were expecting the sand to be crawling with them. Bloody fibbers!
All four of us went for lunch before the boat trip because we don't get back until 8pm, although two salads and two fried noodles took nearly 50 minutes to come. Typical, the first time our food has taken forever in a long time and it's the one time we need to be somewhere.
We asked for It to be boxed so we could take it straight away, the pier was only 30 seconds away but we had to check in and didn't know which boat we were going on. So me and Sarah went over to the pier to check in and are our salads on the pier.
The boat was a local fishing boat, so a little blue boat with long tail propellers and two car engines on it and four young fishermen who hardly spoke English. We stopped at the small island just out from Koh Rong to do a bit of snorkelling. It was good, we seen a few different types of fish but not a fee at deal. Not as many as I thought considering they do a lot of diving here and it's a good area spot some FASH. The go pro came in handy though for when we did spot some FASH.
I was the last one back on the boat, that's a very unusual for me, just shows how clear the water is. I wasn't even looking over my shoulder to check for the sea monsters! Haha.
Afterwards we went fishing, like we did in Goa with the small reel of fishing wire with a hook and a little weight. We had squid for bait, there were loads of black ink coming out of it - yuk.
Off we go, all ten of us either side of the boats and three of the fishermen were having a go as well. Well after a few minutes of putting my wire in I caught one. The fishermen looked at me as if to say okay, take it off then. Uhh no! I'll catch them but I'm not touching them!
It became it a little funny because after about 15 minutes I had caught 5 fish and the fishermen had caught one and no one else had caught any. That's when one of the fishermen gave up and went for a nap, beaten by a girl. Muhaha!
Then after about half an hour I had caught 7 in total. Most of which hadn't eaten my bait. I'm such a good fisher woman! Haha. They were decent sized fish as well to be fair! But there's no way in BBQing them when we get back and eating them not after I've seen the hooks be pulled out from their eye sockets and mouths. I swear one fish poked his tongue out at me! who knew fish had tongues?!
I knew that Scott would play the cards of, it wasn't fair you had two hooks (they only ever caught on to one though) and in wasn't trying I felt sea sick card. Haha sore loser! He's not on a very good streak at the moment especially seeing as I beat him at pool aswell! Hehe.
We had a free beer - exciting! No. It wad 'klang' new one to us, 6% vol and had the flavour of it tasted like tin. Not the greatest if local beverages we had tasted!
We went to long beach to watch the sunset, and yes it was very long, with only a few huts at either end. You could hike to it from our beach but it was through jungle with snakes and gibbons as there's no roads! There were hammocks tied up in trees with mosquito nets over, they looked pretty cool; and little camps with people who I think thought they were on the survivor program. (Apparently it was filmed here) perhaps they're trying to rein act it.
You would definitely get bitten alive here at night if you didn't deet yourself up! It would be nice to sit around the campfire and it would be pretty light because of the full moon and clear skies.
Me and Sarah discovered that the sand squeaked. It genuinely squeaked when you slid your feet through it or even walked on it.
The beach was completely unspoilt, and the sunset was beautiful! I must say south east Asia do some cracking sunsets! The sun became massive and was a deep orange and red, it was so picturesque; it's a shame cameras can't capture the full essence of it.
We tried to spot the bio luminous plankton but because of the clear sky and the full moon it was really difficult. Two people got in to swish the water around and we all lent over and swished the water around nearly capsizing the boat! You could see it a little bit. It was like green sparklers. It was a little disappointing but I'm sure we will be able to see some again at some point on the trip, there a few good places to see it apparently, like Halong bay and Krabi.
Headed back to the beach, we were starving so a quick trip back to the bungalows for a freezing cold shower which I appreciated a lot because I was boiling! I think i was the only one though listening to the screeches coming from the other showers haha!
I had ciabatta bread with olives, feta cheese and balsamic vinegar - (this was soon the be the lethal drug to my bowel system)
We were all shattered after some physical exercise today so we headed back after a good natter.
Ole Larry was there on the roof beam above the bed, waiting to take a crap on us!
