Thanks for all the messages people.I can't reply to them but I am reading and enjoying them.Well done Safiye you budding chef and Nadine the gels are still going strong!I'm at the hostel although I'm no longer staying in the pitt(yes thats really eat the room was.)We upgraded to a decentish twin size room with a proper curatin and a bathroom so i washed my hair today : ) Today was great.A lot of people went off on a paid guided tour of the monastry but myself,Lynn and Ant decided to hire bicycles instead. We rode the 13km to the grasslands outside the town and the 13 km back and then we rode all through the town and back out of it down some country roads and then headed back.It cost us 20 yuan (about 2 pounds) and we got our money's worth out of it although the bikes were crap. The manager of this hostel puts very little of the profits back into the hostel. Its cheap but NOT good value for money. They were all pretty rickety.Lynn's pedals had no grip,my brakes stopped working when it was raining and when we were on the main road coming back here one of Ant's pedals fell kept falling off!Saying that though it was exhilarating. We rode through some beautiful mountainous scenery and also followed the river bed.All the Tibetans in their colourful furs and nomads intheir pelts were waving at us as they passed on their scooters and tractors.Myself and Lynn got no sleep last night (hence the upgrade). The hard beds, mouldiness in the room, the cramped space (4 people sharing), all sorts of noises throughout the night and Di's atrocious snoring keept us awake(will NOT be sharing with her again). So we were very proud of our cycling feat : ) When we got back we moved rooms, washed some clothes in the sink and I got to wash my hair while Di,Lynn and Ant went off walking together.I was pissed because they climbed up a hill only to stumble on all these Tibetans in tents having some big religious celebration. They drak and ate with them and generally had a ball. And they saw a Llama(not the animal, the high ranking Tibetan priest). But hey. This is just the beginning.Had home-cooked chips for lunch at a small western style cafe(can you believe theres one here?)and I had a muffin and jasmine tea for my dinner. The weather since I've got to China has bin mostly crap.Until about 2/3 days ago we didnt see the sun (pollution and haze) and up here its been cold and rainey.I think we've seen one sunny day.Anyway I'm off to update my written journal.x
